6/6/2021 0 Comments What Is Pallet Flow Racking?Pallet flow raking systems are high capacity, high speed, counter-rotating, interlocking pallet storage systems that use depth to enhance capacity. This racking system employs a sloped rail with rollers which enable pallets to smoothly move along the slanted plane. These racking systems also known as gravity flow or automatic flow systems. They are used for heavy industrial and commercial applications where high volume storage is required. The components of a typical pallet flow racking system consists of: a base, rails, and truck mounted racks. The rail system has tie-down straps for securing the lumber to the base. The truck mounted racks are fixed in a fixed position to the frame of the base. When one of the racks is moved, the whole racking system moves with it. The components of a heavy-duty, fully loaded, and highly versatile pallet flow racking system include: high-density storage material, electric motors, hydraulic systems, and counter-rotating motion equipment. The high density storage material includes: hollowed-out, plastic, particle board, sheet materials, and many pallets of varying sizes. The electric motor provides the force to move the wooden or metal pallet in a non-fixed manner. Hydraulic systems move the racking material along an inclined plane. The counter-rotating motion equipment provides the power to rotate the wooden or metal piece in either clockwise or counter clockwise motion. The entire unit is connected to a large truck or tractor. This truck or tractor is referred to as the unit handle. As the name implies, the handle connects the entire system to the truck or tractor. This type of system can handle very heavy pallet loads that are usually required for high density pallet storage. The name first-in-time means that the material being stored first is on the receiving rack. The first-out rack is located next to the receiving area. The materials stored on the first-in racking are those that are received first and those that are rejected. The second-in-line storage racks are located after the first-out rack. These racks are used when there is a space constraint between the receiving area and the racking equipment. Click this link for more adequate info on pallet flow racking. The Pallet Flow Racking System is generally made up of horizontal and vertical rollers. The horizontal rollers can be used for single or double width loads. The vertical rollers are ideal for heavy and tall pallet loads. Pallet racking is a storage system that can be used in different warehouse applications. For more information, check out this related post: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pallet_racking.
